Countries and Themes

The Barometer explores country-level data as well as in context through a number of thematic modules, looking at the connection between specific data governance, availability and use practices.

Countries

Data is transforming our world—but what does that transformation look like in different countries and regions? Through a network of regional research hubs, we’re gathering comparable data and providing contextual, on-the-ground analysis from 109 countries.

Core modules

Governance and capability are core components of the Barometer that have been developed as standalone modules. They contain a series of primary indicators designed to provide a country-wide assessment of such critical issues related to the development of an effective data ecosystem:

Governance
Capability

Thematic modules

For the first edition, we wanted to cover a range of government functions and a range of sustainable development goals to benefit from the expertise of partners who are contributing to the in-depth thematic modules:

Climate Action
Company Information
Health & COVID-19
Land
Political Integrity
Public Finance
Public Procurement
